FLIP THE SCRIPT! (PT. 2) with Becky Katz and Evelyn Charlotte Joe
In this episode, guests Becky and Evelyn will continue to help you see how art can be a way to flip the script! We will complete a two-part piece of art reflecting our dreams. Halfway through the workshop, we will change its orientation and the story it tells using layers of drawing, painting, and collage.

Becky Katz is an artist and activist who lives in Hamilton. Becky’s energy comes from her passion to bring art, creativity, and collaboration into the lives of people she works with–placing an extra emphasis on marginalized and disenfranchised communities. As both the former Director of Outreach at Centre for Artistic & Social Practice, and Artistic Director and Founder of Strangewaves Festival, Becky plays a vital role in the community by connecting people to each other and to the Hamilton arts community. Through art creation, art instruction, mentorship, and collaboration, Becky uses the arts to engage and connect with so many diverse people in Hamilton and to ensure that theyknow they have a big role to play in their community.
Evelyn Charlotte Joe is a musician, songwriter and educator who lives in Hamilton. They have been actively engaged in their local arts community for 10 years, and as an educator and youth worker for longer. Their educational practice combines current research on how the brain engages with music, trauma-informed childhood development models as well as the hidden histories of music veiled by colonial narratives. Evelyn focuses on promoting self-regulation by using musical vocabulary, improvisation, and song.
