ONLINE COURSE: Drawing and Painting Foundations

If you’ve always wanted to draw and paint but don’t know where to start, this gentle introduction to basic art skills is for you. See a dramatic improvement in how you create images. This course includes a study of historical and contemporary art as reference. Develop the ability to think and see as an artist. For beginners and those with experience.
About the Instructor: As a teaching artist with several degrees in visual art and education, Kevin Willson brings his passion for creativity, communication, and culture to students of all ages, ability, and learning interests.

About Online Courses: Virtual fall courses will be delivered via ZOOM. Prior to the course session, you will receive an invitation for the session(s) via email. You’ll need a laptop, desktop or tablet, internet connection with good bandwidth and a headset (either wired or wireless) if possible. Materials: Students are responsible for sourcing their own materials for online courses. For Drawing and Painting Foundations, you will need the following:
• Pencils (4H, HB, 4B)
• Charcoal Sticks (compressed and willow)
• Pencil Sharpener
• Utility Knife
• Steel Edged Ruler
• Eraser (vinyl)
• 3 Sheets of Drawing Paper (16 x 20” or larger)
• Sketch Book or Common Drawing Paper
• Masking Tape
• Assorted Acrylic or Oil Paints (red, yellow, blue, black, white)
• 3 canvases or canvas boards, 16 x 20”
• Assorted student grade paint brushes
• 2 Pallet Knives
• Mixing pallet
