In this course, students will create a diverse range of art that can be applied towards post-secondary applications. Students will also be introduced to the various career paths of post-secondary arts programs, learn strategies for kick-starting their creative process, and become acquainted with the work of contemporary artists as a springboard for creating work that balances technical and conceptual concerns. Weekly projects, exercises and critiques will help each student develop, clarity and represent their own artistic voice.

About the Instructor: Sylvie Treu Walsh is an interdisciplinary artist who works in visual art and community art programming. She is currently an arts facilitator with the Art Gallery of Burlington, and works independently through her own FreshOrange Studio, having led programs and workshops in schools and the community, for over 8 years, with an emphasis on hands-on artmaking and creative exploration. Sylvie has a BFA from OCADU, with distinction, and her gallery work includes mixed-media drawing, painting, and sculpture-installation. Sylvie is an advocate for community engagement gained through public participation in the arts.
